Specialized Addiction Services

SERVICE

This is an outpatient substance abuse treatment service serving Middlesex County. Consisting of a number of specialized programs, we offer individual, group and family counseling for individuals and their families with substance abuse disorders. Special needs such as co-occurring disorders, HIV/AIDS, developmental and physical disability, are treated within an individualized treatment approach with case management support where needed. Additionally, there is a women’s program designed especially to address their unique needs in the recovery process. Working closely with an Addiction Psychiatrist, patients in need will be evaluated and followed up for medication monitoring where indicated. Each individual is evaluated at intake and assigned to the appropriate level of care including individual, group, IOP and aftercare. Those in need of a higher level of care are assisted with referrals to the proper treatment facility in the community. Patients from Middlesex and/or have Medicaid can be assisted with transportation.

Location

The main treatment site is at 671 Hoes Lane, Piscataway, N.J. Psychiatric services are provided by appointment only at 189 New Street, New Brunswick, N.J. To increase accessibility, some groups are held in New Brunswick.

Insurance

Commercial insurance, Medicaid and Medicare are accepted for treatment by a licensed clinician. Those without insurance can have their treatment paid for through existing grant funded programs.

Catchment

All Middlesex residents are eligible for treatment at this facility. Individuals out of the area may request treatment and will be admitted based on availability.

Specialized services

This is a prevention program serving families at risk for drug and alcohol problems. Using an evidence based model, the curriculum runs for 14 weeks and includes groups for both parents and children. Developmental Disabilities - Crossings

This program focuses on recovery for developmentally disabled individuals which may include traumatic brain injury, fetal alcohol syndrome, epilepsy, low I.Q. and other disabilities covered by the ADA. Along with individual and group treatment, case management services are supplied to enhance positive outcomes. Referrals may be made directly to Toya Geeston at 732-235-7440

Parole – MAP

This program is for clients referred by parole. Services include IOP, individual, group and aftercare. Those in need of a higher level of care are referred and can return to the program when they are ready to step down.

Women’s Program

This program is designed to treat the special needs of women recovering from drug and alcohol problems. We offer individual and group therapy as well as IOP if necessary.

HIV Outreach

This program provides case management services to substance abusers who with HIV/AIDS.
Clients are integrated into the ongoing substance abuse treatment (individual, group, IOP and family) while receiving additional services to achieve positive outcomes.

Adolescent IOP

Adolescents between the ages of 13-18 attend groups three times weekly that are designed to address the particular needs of their age group (anticipated start date is July).

Physical Disabilities

This program provides case management services attached to substance abuse treatment for individuals with physical disabilities including: spinal bifida, traumatic brain injury, epilepsy, cerebral palsy, tourettes syndrome and any other physical disability.

Outpatient Services

Individual, group, family and IOP substance abuse treatment is available. We accept Medicaid and commercial insurance. Some services are grant funded. Requests for services can be made through the Access Center # 1800-969-5300
