CARRI - Healthy Families

A home-based parenting program For first-time and pregnant teens

Eligibility Criteria

  • First-time mother must be 19 years old or younger
  • Children must be 3 months old or younger
  • Family must reside in New Brunswick or Perth Amboy

CARRI - Even Start Family Literacy Program

An English as a Second Language (ESL) literacy program for parents and children in collaboration with the New Brunswick Public Schools-Adult Learning Center

Eligibility Criteria

Family must

  • Reside in New Brunswick
  • Have an ESL Literacy Need
  • Have at least one child 3-5 years old
  • Have a low income
  • Have one parent available 12-3 p.m., Monday through Friday

Services Provided

  • Daytime ESL classes for parents
  • On-site child care
  • Home Visits
  • Case Management
  • Parenting Education
  • Linking to Community Resources
CARRI - Youth Incentive Program (YIP)

An intensive, time-limited, home-based counseling program for families with children under 18 who are returning from or at risk for going into out-of-home placement

Eligibility Criteria

  • Referral only through Middlesex County Child Assessment Resource Team (CART)
CARRI - DYFS Home-Based Program

A home-based parenting program for families with young children in collaboration with the Division of Youth and Family Services (DYFS)

Eligibility Criteria

Referral only through Middlesex or Somerset County DYFS

CARRI- TANF Initiative for Parents (TIP)

A Home based and In-community service model providing parenting education and supportive services to new parents with babies under 3 months of age and or expectant parents.

Eligibility Criteria

  • TANF recipients who are new or expectant parents
  • Assessed for being at moderate risk for abuse and neglect
  • Family resides in Middlesex or Somerset County

Services Provided

  • Home visits
  • Parenting education focusing on appropriate child development, nutrition and appropriate discipline methods
  • Individualized Family Support Plan
  • Coordinated case planning/inter agency referrals
  • Early Childhood Assessments
  • Supportive and Educational Groups including nutrition
  • Linkage and referrals to social, educational, medical, transportation and employment services
  • Creative Outreach
  • Collaboration with community providers to provide access to job readiness skill building and or pre-employment trainings
