A full range of outpatient services is offered to children and
adolescents up through the age of 17, and their families.
Referrals are accepted for a range of presenting problems, including
but not limited to anxiety, depression, reactions to stress and
trauma, attentional difficulties, learning difficulties, behavior
problems, and social skills problems. Appointments are made by
calling the Access Center (1-800-969-5300). Our multi-disciplinary
and bi-lingual (English-Spanish) staff consists of psychiatrists,
advanced practice nurses, psychologists, social workers, professional
counselors, and mental health specialists.
During the initial appointment, the assigned clinician takes
a history and makes an assessment of the nature of the problem.
Children are then assigned for one or more of a variety of treatment
modalities: individual therapy, family therapy, group therapy,
medication evaluation and monitoring. In addition, full psychological
evaluations may be recommended by the childs clinician
to further assess the childs educational and treatment
needs.
Assistance is available in providing referrals for other
services, and staff work closely with other agencies, including
the schools, to develop a plan that best meets the needs
of the child. Parent/guardian participation is expected
and welcomed in all aspects of treatment. The unit also
provides some community education programs; requests for
this service can be made by calling Evelyn Orozco at (973)
972-6939. The Clinician Supervisor for Child and Adolescent
Outpatient Services is Dr. Rinku Arora 973-972-4317.
