YOUTH CASE MANAGEMENT
SERVICE
Youth Case Management (YCM) is a grant funded program offered
by UMDNJ/UBHC for seriously emotionally disturbed children to
age eighteen who are being discharged from the Childrens
Crisis Intervention Services hospital unit; Arthur Brisbane, the
state hospital facility; the intermediate care unit at UBHC in
Piscataway and psychiatric community residences like Homestead,
the Childrens Transitional Residence and Laurie Haven. YCM
provides voluntary free outreach services to Middlesex County
youth and their families to assist in the transition from inpatient
or residential treatment into the community. Services include
the following: educational placement, recreational services, therapeutic
services, family advocacy and support, family psychoeducation,
transportation and empowerment. YCM supports families and their
efforts to obtain and utilize appropriate services.
ADMISSION
Referrals are made to the unit by calling the Access Center,
