Research
The data obtained through performance improvement efforts are
used to demonstrate the effectiveness of treatment interventions
in Latinos. Research protocols funded by the National Institute
of Mental Health in the area of mental health services to Latinos
are ongoing. Currently these include areas such as medication adherence,
medically unexplained symptoms and accuracy of diagnoses.
Protocols for consultation and treatment of patients who seek
primary care due to psychological problems are being developed in
collaboration with the Center for the Treatment of Medically Unexplained
Physical Symptoms, MUPS.
Clínica Latina is aiming
to become a Latino Center of Excellence a National Model for Mental
Health Services.
